The Truth about the Offshore

The season finishes off with 3% of the contestants being relieved of all the pressure felt during the process. They have finally reached the other side and were thought to believe there would be no more games. Although, some unexpected events happen before they reach their flight to the offshore. A murder happens at the celebration. As Michele was trying to interfere with the organization aspect by killing the process leader, Ezekiel, she accidentally poisons one of the other workers. Ezekiel uses this situation to his advantage by interfering with the technical aspect of the surveillance system and framing the woman who tried to take his position as leader. He deletes all the documents she was blackmailing him with, replacing them with useless ones, and frames her for the murder despite knowing that it was Michele who murdered him.

Ezekiel then tortures Michele in secret while forcing her to provide information about the rebellion referred to as the Cause. He shows her footage of her brother living happily on the offshore with his family and claims that the Cause provided disinformation to Michele by stating that Ezekiel murdered her brother. Ezekiel also claims that he was once a part of the Cause so he sympathizes with her mistakes and is willing to forgive all if she provides information about the Cause. Although Michele is hesitant at first, she eventually complies because all she wants is to see her brother. Ezekiel seems to keep his promise to Michele because they are able to arrest one of the Cause leaders based on the information she provided.

After dealing with Michele, Ezekiel then pulls Joana aside and tries to force her to press a button to kill a man who committed a minor crime. He manipulates her by claiming that she must do this to prove that she deserves a better life. Once she refuses, he calls her horrible names and refers to her as a weakling. Joana fires back by stating that the offshore does not want good people, they want the worst people. Such as people who are okay with harming others with no consequences and people that value power over morals. She even states that the offshore people have no humanity left in them, and she quits the process by moving back to the inland. Joana foreshadows that she plans to join the Cause to rebel against the unfair and inhumane process. The ending of this season reassures that morals are not essential in the offshore but actually discouraged. Only the ones willing to harm others will thrive in the society the inlanders fought so hard for.
